Mariachi Program

 

The CVUSD Mariachi Program, Voces del Valle is a free enrichment program for students in 4th through 12th grades. The mariachi classes are taught by professional mariachi musicians and focus on the traditional mariachi instruments: guitar, vihuela, guitarron (bass), violin and trumpet.  Students in the program explore the different regional music from Mexico that is commonly played by Mariachis, such as: rancheras, boleros, polkas, huapangos, sones, jaliscienses, and jarabes.

Students learn from experienced and professional Mariachi musicians who not only instruct the students but also share their talent, enthusiasm, and dedication to the preservation and enjoyment of traditional cultural music. The program is structured for both beginning students with no previous experience and for students who have knowledge and training on an instrument. Like any other type of music genre, Mariachi is meant for all ages and ethnicities; therefore this program encourages students from all cultural backgrounds to participate in this exciting program.

Castro Valley Unified School District will lend instruments to students who do not have access to them.

El Programa de Mariachi de CVUSD, Voces del Valle es un programa gratuito después de clases de enriquecimiento para los estudiantes de tercer grado al  grado 12. Las clases de mariachi seran enseñadas por músicos profesionales de mariachi y se enfocarán en los instrumentos tradicionales de mariachis: guitarra, vihuela, guitarrón (bajo), el violín y la trompeta. Exploraran la diferente música regional de México que son comúnmente interpretada por mariachis, tales como: rancheras, boleros, polkas, huapangos, sones jaliscienses, y jarabes.

Los estudiantes aprenderán de músicos con experiencia y profesionales de Mariachi que, no sólo instruyen a los estudiantes; sino también comparten su talento, entusiasmo y dedicación a la preservación de la música cultural tradicional. El programa está estructurado para ambos estudiantes principiantes sin experiencia previa y para los estudiantes que tienen conocimiento de un instrumento. Al igual que cualquier otro tipo de género musical, el Mariachi es para todas las edades y grupos étnicos; Por lo tanto, este programa anima a estudiantes de todos los orígenes culturales a participar en este programa.

El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Castro Valley prestará instrumentos a los estudiantes que no tienen acceso a ellos.
