Poetry Cafe: Come cure those winter blues by enjoying a night of poetry!  Our 8th grade students at both Canyon and Creekside will have just finished their Poetry Unit, where they learned how to analyze, write, and perform poetry, and the top performers will be showcasing their masterpieces in our 3rd annual Canyon Creekside  Poetry Cafe on Friday, April13, at 6:00pm  in Canyon's Cafeteria. Complimentary tickets to attend this exciting night will be available through students' English classes.  If you'd like to attend, please make sure to get tickets so we know how many people to expect for seating and refreshments.

Cultural Food Faire & Open House: Our 17th Annual Food Faire will be held on the evening of Thursday, April 19th. The'Food Faire will be held from 5:00-6:30pm, followed directly by Open House. With these two events back-to-back, we welcome families to an evening of delicious food and fun. Hopefully, you will consider joining us for a delicious sampling of food from the many cultures that Canyon represents.

Because the success of the Food Faire depends on the cooperation and support of our entire school community, we would appreciate  any contribution that you can give.  Students will receive Food Faire forms in their Advisory class by the end of March and they will be due back by Tuesday, April 10.   If you are willing to donate a dish/drink or help work in a Food Booth,

1) fill out the Google Form at:  https:/

2) complete the bottom of this letter and send it back to your student's Advisory teacher

Students who volunteer to bring a food or drink donation can also bring up to 4 guests (family or friends) to participate in the Food Faire buffet on April19. Thanks, in advance, for your help and willingness to share your experiences  and food to enrich this event.

End-of-the-Year Activities:  To celebrate the end of the year, we have events planned for all three grade levels.  Please watch for more information about these activities starting at the beginning of May.  While we hope that all students will be able to participate in these events, participation is a privilege that can be lost. Please be advised that inappropriate  behavior and conduct as well as outstanding financial obligations will keep students from joining us in the end-of-the-year fun.  Please encourage your student to finish the school year strong, both academically  and behaviorally!

7th, 8th, and 9th Grade Elections: We will be holding elections for the 2018-2019 officers in April and May. Current 6th graders run for ASB Treasurer and 7th Grade Class President.  Current 7th graders run for ASB President, ASB Vice President, and 8th  Grade Class President.  Current 8th  graders run for two Freshman Class Representative positions at Castro Valley High School.  Check the bulletin announcements or Student Activities calendar for election information and dates.  Thanks for your interest in student government!
