We Scare Hunger Canned Food Drive Update:  In November, we held our We Scare Hunger Canned Food Drive, and we collected over 5700 non-perishable items to donate to Castro Valley families in need. We truly appreciate your generosity in this year’s outstanding success!  Condors - you have truly outdone yourselves! Thank you!

Parade of Lights:  Thanks for your support for Canyon’s participation in the 6th Annual Castro Valley Parade of Lights!  We definitely showed our Condor Spirit and how we SOAR with our Saturday Night Live-themed entry “Live From Canyon Middle School, it’s Saturday Night Lights!”

Adopt-A-Family:  Every December, we continue our tradition of community by assisting Castro Valley Outreach with their Adopt-A-Family program.  This will run from December 1-14.  All classes will be organizing donations in many creative ways, so talk to your child about what his/her class has planned.  All money that is raised goes to help CV families during the holiday season.

Winter Talent Show Assembly:  Canyon’s Annual Winter Assembly is on December 22, and this year we’re back to having a Talent Show. Auditions were held after Thanksgiving, and we’re looking forward to a great show of all kind of Condor talent!

We Scare Hunger:  Our We Scare Hunger Food Drive will be held from October 25 – November 14.  We have more families in need than ever, and we would like to help as many as we can.  Students kicked off the event during Trick-or-Treating, but all non-perishable donations will be appreciated and they will be collected in students’ Advisory classes on November 1, November 7, & November 14.  Please keep us in mind when you’re shopping, and help us scare away hunger in Castro Valley!  We Scare Because We Care!

Anyone wishing to donate a check may do so. Please make checks payable to Castro Valley Outreach.  There are also many volunteering opportunities.  The Castro Valley Outreach volunteers shop for the perishable items before delivering to families.  On Friday, 11/17, you can help receiving food from schools, starting at 3pm.  On Monday, 11/20 and Tuesday, 11/21, starting at 9am, you can help sort the food at the Mormon Church on Seven Hills.  There are also other opportunities to help.  If you are able to volunteer, please contact Theresa Koscinski with CV Outreach at tmkoscinski83@gmail.com.

Parade of Lights:  Come support Canyon as we stroll down Castro Valley Boulevard in the 5th Annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 11!  Cheer along as our Leadership class and Student Council Representatives show the community our awesome theme of “Live From Canyon Middle School, It’s Saturday Night Lights!”  The parade will begin at 5:30pm, so be sure to get there early to get a good spot on the parade route!  More info can be found at cvmeetinthestreet.org
