VOLLEYBALL PRACTICE TIMES: Volleyball practice starts Monday. Practice times are:  Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 3:30, and Wednesday at 2:30. ~Mr. Nieves

BIKE MOBILE CLINIC: Bring your bicycle to Canyon Middle School for a free tune up or repair and learn some tricks to keeping your bicycle running smoothly this spring from the Bike Mobile mechanic educators. We will host the Bike Mobile clinic on March 30th during lunch and after school. ~Mr. Steinecke, Principal

FUTURE WEB LEADERS: If you are in 7th grade and interested in becoming a WEB leader next year, pick up a white application from the Wall of Forms in the office. Completed applications are due to Ms. Stickel in room B-6 by Tuesday, March 28. ~WEB

ANNUAL SCHOOLA CLOTHING DRIVE STARTS TUESDAY, 3/21: It's time for our annual Schoola Clothing Drive beginning March 21 through March 31st.   It's easier to participate than ever before!  Just go to Schoola.com and choose Canyon as your charity. Print a mailing label and just drop off your boxed donations at the post office.  You can also bring your donations to room F-8. Schoola will resell your clothing and donate 40% back to our school! Thanks for your help, Canyon. ~Ms. Chinn

TUPE PSA CONTEST: Don't forget - TUPE PSA Contest: "It's More than Vapor" is due on March 31st.  Information is at the Wall of Forms, or you can come talk to Ms. Hsiao in Room I-3. ~Ms. Hsiao 

CLUB 3:16: Our next meeting will be Tuesday, April 4, during 7/8th grade lunch in D-1. If you would like Ms. Yee to send you a reminder pass, please see her between now and then. ~Ms. Yee

 LIBRARY PET STORY BOARD: The cutoff date to bring in pictures of your pets for the Pet Story Board is next Friday, March 31.  Participants have an opportunity to win an animal poster from the Library. ~Ms. Conn & Ms. Layne, Library 

YEARBOOK IS CREATING A SCHOOL NEWSLETTER! We will have an advice column, and we are looking for your questions.  If you want some advice, please share your questions in the advice box in the library.  We will be accepting questions for two more weeks.  We will try to answer as many for which we can make space.  Look for answers in May when we publish our newsletter. ~Ms. Hsiao

6TH GRADE BOOK CLUB: Do you like books? Do you like movies? Come join us on Fridays in RM B-12 for the Book Club, during 6th grade lunch. We are going to read and watch Charlotte’s Web. Here is the deal: You have to come to one of the next two meetings on March 31st or April 7th, in order to watch the movie on April 14th.  See you there! ~The Book Club   

YEARBOOK TRIBUTE TO MR. WHITEMAN: Yearbook would like to include a tribute to Mr. Whiteman.  Any students and staff who would like to share some positive thoughts and memories about Mr. Whiteman, please drop them off or email them to Ms. Hsiao by Wednesday, 3/29: shfrates@cv.k12.ca.us. ~Ms. Hsiao 

CALLING ALL CANYON ARTISTS: Would you like to be the artist who designs next year’s Binder Reminder front cover?  Next year it could be YOU! Open to all students in grades 6 through 8 at Canyon. The deadline is Wednesday, April 5th at NOON. (No late entries accepted.)  Each participating students will receive 3 S.O.A.R tickets from Mrs. Torrez.

  • The Binder Reminder cover design is to include school name (Canyon Middle School), date (2017-2018), and the words…S.O.A.R. and Safety, Organization, Achieving Goals, and Respect. Information to keep in mind… Canyon’s mascot is the condor and the school colors are red and gold (yellow).  
  • Designs must be on 8½” by 11” paper.  All text must be within a 7” by 10½” area on the paper… please be sure you are leaving the margin area on the left side.  See Mrs. Torrez in the front office if you have any questions!  ~Ms. Torrez 

ATTENTION CURRENT 6TH AND 7TH GRADERS: The Summer College and Career Pathways camp is being offered to you again this summer. It is no cost to families and is held at CVHS from June 19th through July 14th from 8:30am-11:45am. Each week you will explore a different pathway,

1. Health and Biotechnology

2. Information and Communication Technology

3. Engineering

4. Digital Media & Design

There is a parent information night on March 23rd. Applications to register will be available soon through the Canyon website and at the Information Night. Ms. Acuna and Ms. Souza will also have paper copies of the application. First come first served. ~Ms. Souza 

FROM THE LIBRARY: Let`s celebrate April Fool’s Day by sharing jokes with your school friends. Starting this week through the whole month of April bring a joke or funny story you like to school library, they will be displayed on the bulletin board for everyone to enjoy. The joke that collects the most LIKES will be posted on student bulletin and get possible placement in 2018 Yearbook. ~Ms. Layne, Library
