Immunization Reminder for Incoming 7th Graders regarding Whooping Cough

Immunization Reminder for Current 7th Graders: Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, continues to threaten students in California. To help stop its spread, all 7th graders are required by law (SB 277) to have proof of a whooping cough booster (‘Tdap’) shot in order to attend classes next year. Current 7th grade students are also required to have a second MMR. Personal belief exemptions on file for a child already attending school in California are no longer valid for the child entering 7th grade. Medical exemptions that are written by a licensed physician (MD or DO) are still permitted. For more information on this change, please see the Frequently Asked Questions at: www.shotsforschool.org/laws/sb277faq/. If your child has already received these vaccines, please provide records to the school as soon as possible. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND CLASSES WITHOUT AN UPDATED SHOT RECORD AND WILL NOT RECEIVE THEIR REGISTRATION ENVELOPE IN AUGUST. THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD.
