About Creekside

Community

Creekside Middle School is a successful and vibrant community. We all share a fundamental belief that no school can succeed unless we are all willing to be partners in every child’s education. We encourage parents and community members to get involved as classroom volunteers, noon supervisors, office helpers, field trip supervisors, library volunteers, and with special PTC or school projects. We also encourage all parents to partner with their child’s teachers to create plans for academic success. Parent participation is not only important but essential in a healthy school.

The Creekside Middle School community remains constant in their vision that every child will leave Creekside as a lifelong learner with the drive and motivation to be successful. We are very proud of our students, staff, and community for the many accomplishments and accolades.

Creekside Middle School serves approximately 800 students in grades six through eight. We currently have 30 classrooms, a computer lab, a multipurpose room, a library/media center, a gymnasium, and administrative offices. The school has a local area network and Internet access in all of the classrooms. Additionally, a closed circuit television network allows school broadcasts throughout the campus.

Thirty-six certificated teachers are employed at Creekside. Additionally, there are two counselors, a school psychologist, two speech providers, an assistant principal and a principal. Twenty-four classified staff serve in clerical, custodial, supervisory, food service, and instructional support positions.

History

Our school began its life in the early 1950's as Earl Warren Junior High School, one of two junior highs in Castro Valley. However, in the late 1970's declining enrollment caused Canyon, one of our town's two high schools, to be shut down. A few years later, Canyon became Castro Valley's only middle school as both Earl Warren and A.B.Morris were closed. The A.B.Morris campus was torn down and the property sold. The Castro Valley Adult School program moved to the Earl Warren Campus.

Then, with increasing student enrollment, a decision was made in December 1996 to open a second middle school in Castro Valley. The Castro Valley Adult School campus was selected as the site for our school. The adult school was relocated and renovation of the Center Street campus began in February 1997. "Creating Creekside" was very exciting and rewarding. Through a tremendous effort, our school was ready to welcome its first 500 students in September
