Outdoor School Reminders

Checklist of Essential Things to Bring: (See Packing List for detailed information and LABEL EVERYTHING)

_____ 1 suitcase or duffle bag

_____ 1 backpack

_____ 1 sleeping bag and pillow (in large plastic garbage bag marked with your name on masking tape)

_____ Waterproof Raingear

_____ Extra socks and shoes

_____ Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.)

_____Warm jacket and clothes (dress in layers)

_____ Bag lunch for Monday’s lunch. (Pack enough to last you until dinner)


Arrive at school on Monday between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. and check in with your advisory teacher in MPR. 

Give any medicine to your advisory teacher when you check in:

  1. Place medicine in a zip lock baggie, labeled with your first and last name and advisory teacher’s name.
  2. All medications must be in their original containers.


Arrange for a ride home on Friday!! We should be back at Creekside around 1 pm.  Make arrangements ahead of time.  If both parents work, make arrangements with a friend or neighbor.  The students will be tired and will not want to wait around until 3 to take the bus.  Also, we will need parents to help unload the baggage bus, if you are willing and able.

Student Medical History and Authorization Form

Medical forms must be filled out prior to your student attending outdoor school. Fill out the appropriate form, depending on your child's advisory teacher. The Advisory teacher is their THIRD PERIOD teacher.

Cheetah Medical Form - This will be linked to the website at a later date. If your child's Advisory Teacher (3rd period teacher) is Mrs. Conrad, Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Lockwood, Mr. Malfatti, or Mrs. Swartzendruber.

Panther Medical Form - This will be linked to the website at a later date.If your child's Advisory Teacher (3rd period teacher) is Ms. Foy, Ms. Gosselin, Mr. McMurray, or Mr. Wallis

Detailed Instructions

  1. Click on the correct link above for the medical form.
  2. You will be prompted to enter your name, your child’s name, and your email address.  Once that information is submitted, you can begin the medical form.
  3. Fill out the entire form. 
  4. Again, for teacher, please put their advisory (third period) teacher.
  5. You can save progress if you need to step away from the form and come back to it later.  
  6. Once all information is entered and the form is complete, you must hit the submit button.
  7. If you submit the form and then need to edit or update any information, you can contact the camp at 650.879.0608 or email Program Director
  8. Please submit this no later than Wednesday, January 31, 2018.


General Information


Each year, as part of the sixth grade curriculum, our students may attend a week at Outdoor School.

What do students learn there?

  • They learn about the environment by studying three ecosystems.
  • They practice their decision-making skills.
  • They participate in cooperative learning.
  • They study environmental protection.


Where, exactly, do they go?

  • Camp Loma Mar, located in the Santa Cruz mountains, is the destination.

When do they go?

Sixth graders are divided into two teams, Cheetahs and Panthers. Each team will go separately. 

Panthers - Monday, March 18, 2019 – Friday, March 22, 2019

Cheetahs - Monday, March 25, 2019 – Friday, March 29, 2019

What is the cost and what is included?

  • The cost is approximately $450 per student, some of which may be defrayed by fundraising efforts.  
  • This pays for food, lodging, transportation and medical insurance as well as professional naturalists from the Exploring New Horizons program.
  • 1st payment:  Friday, October 19, 2018 - $150
  • 2nd payment:  Thursday, December 14, 2018 – $150
  • 3rd payment:  Friday, February 28, 2019 – $150

Camp Loma Mar has provided packing lists in both English and Spanish so you can be sure your student brings all the essentials.
