Principal's Message

August 2016,

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Castro Valley Elementary School is participating in the federally funded Title I program. Title I (from the Education Consolidation and Improvement Act of 1981) was designed to provide a program of supplementary assistance to students who are not performing at grade level in reading, language, and/or math.

On behalf of the CVE Staff, we would like to invite you to become an important member of our bi- monthly meetings. Please check the CVE school calendar for date and time.

Our Title I program supports students who are not meeting grade level standards for their particular grade. Students are identified based on a number of assessments in both reading and mathematics that our teachers give to our students.  Our Title I program provides additional support through our Response to Intervention Specialist, Bear Lab, Paraprofessionals, and help from other certificated (teachers) staff.

A learning plan will be developed during parent teacher conference and follow up conferences will be scheduled with the classroom teacher to keep you informed of your child’s progress toward meeting grade level standards. As part of the on-line registration and within our Student Parent Handbook, you were provided a copy of CVE’s School-Parent Compact and the Parent Involvement Policy.

We discuss the following items at our meetings: Title I programs offered at CVE

  • Federal requirements
  • Budget
  • Title 1 funding to support classroom instruction
  • Parent Involvement at CVE
  • Resource center and ways to support families

Sincerely,

Mrs. Hohn
Principal
