Principal's Message

I have had the privilege of being a part of the CVE Family for many years and am grateful for the opportunity I have been given to continue serving this amazing community as principal.  At CVE, the students are the focus of our efforts.  Our teachers and staff cultivate an environment where students achieve and believe in themselves and their school.  I am excited to be a part of a school community where family members are visible and actively engaged, and are an integral component of our school dynamic.  Your input and support will be critical to my leadership, the teaching and learning environment and above all to the success of your child in our school.  Working together as a community to support our children sets the foundation for developing our students into life-long learners.

Please consider one of the many ways to get involved with your child’s education and our school community:

PATA is open to all parents or guardians of CVE students as well as teachers, school administrators, staff members of CVE, and any other residents in the CVE attendance area.  PATA meetings are generally held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM and FREE childcare and dinner are provided during the meeting.

The School Site Council (SSC) serves as an advisory group for the Single Plan for Student Achievement.  The council is comprised of parents and staff members with voting members equally divided between parents and staff.  The SSC monitors the school plan, assesses needs, sets goals, evaluates progress and updates the plan. SSC meetings are held on Wednesday afternoons at 5:00 in our school library. These meetings are open to the public and families are encouraged to attend.

Each school with 21 or more English learners, regardless of language, must form a functioning English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).  The purpose of ELAC is to advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners. ELAC meetings are announced in advance and are held at least three times each year. Please refer to the school calendar for meeting dates.

After receiving the district list of identified students, parents will be informed of their child's participation in the Title I Program. In addition to program information, parents will be given the opportunity to make organizational decisions by forming a separate council or electing a representative to serve their interests on the School Site Council.  All parents of Title I students are invited to attend School Site Council meetings.
