Measure G Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee
After passage of Bond Measure G, the $123 million General Obligation Bond approved by Castro Valley voters in the June 7, 2016 election, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education appointed 12 seats (7 members with 5 alternates) on the Bond Measure G Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) at the September 22, 2016 board meeting.
The purpose of the Committee shall be to inform the public and the Board concerning the expenditure of bond revenues per Education Code section 15278 (b), and to ensure that such bond proceeds are expended in accordance with the intention of the voters and state law. The Committee will be actively involved in gathering bond related information and advising the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education on all bond related matters. The Committee will act in an oversight capacity on all bond related proposals and expenditures.
Board President, Jo A.S. Loss said in a letter addressed to the committee members, “On behalf of the governance team, thank you for applying for the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. This committee is an important link in communicating to the community the responsibility to perform the work promised in the bond. We take that responsibility seriously and are pleased that the committee will be part of the bond activity. I believe that Measure G in the largest bond that Castro Valley has approved. The Committee shall meet as often as necessary, and at least quarterly, in order to effectively perform its duties. The Committee shall meet generally on the first non-holiday Wednesday of the month.
