Leslie Anderson appointed as Assistant Superintendent - Education Services
At a special board meeting on July 5, 2011, the Board of Education of the Castro Valley Unified School District appointed Leslie Anderson as the Assistant Superintendent – Educational Services.
Ms. Anderson currently serves as the Senior Director – Educational
Services for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, a position
that she has held since 2006.
“We are very fortunate to be able to hire an administrator with
Leslie’s excellent experience in all of the academic areas in which the
district has been working. Leslie brings a great depth of
personal and professional experiences that will build upon the
excellent foundation already in place to further enhance student
learning and close the achievement gap,” stated Superintendent Jim
Negri. “Leslie is known throughout the state for her leadership
in areas of curriculum development, instructional strategies,
professional development, and assessment. Her knowledge and
skills will greatly assist administrators and teachers working to meet
the needs of all students.”
“When we interviewed Leslie’s colleagues, we consistently heard the
terms ‘student-centered,’ ‘extremely knowledgeable,’ ‘a source of
excellent information for teachers and administrators,’ ‘supportive,’
‘visionary,’ ‘listens to people on all sides of an issue,’
‘approachable” “open to a source of excellent information,’
‘collaborative,’ ‘creative and innovative,’ ‘inclusive,’ ‘highly
organized,’ ‘excellent communicator,’ ‘a person of integrity,’ ‘high
standards,’ and ‘collaborative’ from everyone (certificated,
classified, and administrative).” Leslie comes to the district
with the highest respect of her colleagues based on what she has
accomplished, but more importantly on how she has worked with
people.
Before becoming the Senior Director for Educational Services, Leslie
worked in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District as a K-5
Principal and Director of K-12 Instruction, Assessment and
Accountability. She has also served as a K-7 Principal in the San
Lorenzo Unified School District and worked as a K-6 Vice-Principal, K-6
Reading Specialist, and elementary teacher in the Antioch Unified
School District. All of these professional experiences will be an
asset to the students, staff, and parents of the Castro Valley Unified
School District.
Ms. Anderson earned her M.S. in School Administration and Supervision
from California State University, Hayward and her B.S. in Social
Sciences with minors in English and Physical Education from the
University of California, Santa Barbara.
Ms. Anderson will be taking the position previously held by Dr. Maggie
MacIsaac who accepted the position of Superintendent of the Burlingame
School District.
We are pleased to welcome Leslie Anderson to the Castro Valley Unified
School District.
You will have the opportunity to meet Leslie in the coming weeks. Please welcome her to the district.
