Concussion Information for Athletes Grades 7-12
A new law provides "return to play" guidelines for student athletes following a concussion.
Assembly Bill 25, which passed on January 1, 2012, requires parent notification of concussion management in all team sports in grades 7-12. A student who has been removed due to a head injury may not return to play until he/she is evaluated by a licensed health care provider trained in the evaluation and management of concussions. A written authorization from a licensed health care provider is required before the student athlete can return to play following any head injury during practice or game.
More information can be found on the Concussion Information Sheet.
