Intra-District Transfers (within CVUSD)

Intra-District transfer requests are applicable to students who reside within the CVUSD boundaries, are currently enrolled in an elementary school in CVUSD, and are requesting a transfer from one elementary school to another within CVUSD.  

• Transfers are granted based on space availability in the school and/or program requested. 
• Available space is determined considering both current and projected space needs. 
• A random unbiased lottery will be used when there are more requests for a school than there are spaces available. 
• Once an Intra-District request is approved, your student will remain at that school through its final grade level (5th grade for elementary school or 8th grade for middle school). 
• In compliance with School Board policy, Intra-District Transfers are for residents of the Castro Valley Unified School District.

Please Note:  Many schools and grade levels are impacted and are not likely to have available space.

Additional considerations regarding Transfers

• Parent/guardian assumes responsibility for providing transportation. 
• Students must attend school and arrive at school on time and in classes 95% of the time based on their beginning date of enrollment for a school year. (This includes absences, tardies, early releases, and late pick-ups, all of which will count against the student’s attendance.) 
• Students must maintain proper conduct at school and at school-related functions and activities and have no outside suspensions.
• Transfers may be revoked at any time if any of the above conditions are not met, if unexpected growth occurs at the school, or if any of the information in the transfer request application has been falsified.

The time frame for Intra-District Transfer requests is the first school day in March to April 30^th.  After April 30^th, we will review for spaces available for the next school year. Decisions on placement will follow throughout the months of May and June.

Applications submitted after April 30^th may not be immediately considered.
