Expanded Learning Opportunity Programs (ELOP)

Castro Valley Unified School District is pleased to announce expanded learning opportunities to all TK-8th grade students for the 2023/2024 School year.
Currently, the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program in CVUSD is provided through a partnership with PlayCV (Programs Learning and Activities for Youth in Castro Valley). Academic support, enrichment and connections for students beyond the regular school day are the primary goals of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs in CVUSD. “Expanded learning” means after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences.
For the 2023-2024 school year, PlayCV will be at ALL nine elementary school sites as well as both middle schools. A healthy snack, education, literacy, and enrichment elements are all part of the program.
The Full PLAY program is available at all Castro Valley elementary and middle school sites, running five days a week throughout the school year. The program begins at the last bell and offers a late pick-up time of 6:00 PM. It is also offered with a latest pick-up time of 4:30 PM. An alternative schedule is followed on minimum days, with an earlier start time but the same pick-up times. The program does not operate on holidays or staff development days unless specified otherwise.
